I'm going to have to watch this episode again. I'm conflicted. It seemed rather disjointed to me...unsettling in a way. Not quite sure what to make of Patrick actually CREATING evidence to keep higher ups from realizing that he doesn't actually think the man he killed was Red John.

I thought it was a very strong episode. It was amazing to see Jane and Grace run to Darcy's rescue. Jane usually holds back. I think he likes Darcy. It was amazing how he manipulated the evidence to make it not seem to be Red John. Yes chasing monsters changes people. I liked Summer back on the scene. She was introduced to Jane and still only had eyes for Cho. That's nice.

I thought PJ created evidence to save Darcy from being murdered by RJ because RJ wanted her off the case. RJ wants the case to stay with Team Lisbon.

I'm watching it again and now I realize what I find so unsettling! It's the way they all seem to be getting sucked deeper and deeper into trouble that it will be impossible to get themselves out of if they are found out. Lisbon knows too much to turn back now. Cho just popped another pain pill (I think you guys who see addiction ahead are dead on the money!). I'm not quite trusting Cho's new hooker informant either. Van Pelt is getting harder. She hasn't crossed the line yet in terms of secrets...but she's on her way. And yeah....Patrick is forging signatures and creating blood samples and going WAYYYY too far to turn around now! And did the father of Panser's last victim, Tom Mayer, REALLY kill himself? The mom seemed a little strange to me...but then again...Patrick's forged letter really seemed to evoke real grief in her. Yeah...unsettling though it may be (and maybe because of it)...this is a GOOD episode! I love it! You said it gonesouth....as did Patrick..."hunting monsters changes you". 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Hmmmm...yup. I'm with ya dalia. this episode wasn't a game-changer, but it sure indicated the direction the game is headed. Jane REALLY did some backroom gambling here... I think it might provoke a move by RJ pretty soon. He started a 'game' with Jane regarding Darcy..and Jane probably took the bait RJ thought he would...so it'll be interestng to see whats coming. In any case..looks like Jane is weaving quite a tangled web around the rest of the CBI team..I know in one of the first season episodes, Lisbon read Jane out about his not following rules and reckless attitude about what he does. It just emphasized the captain Ahab syndrom when she said someday he would create such a disaster for himself and everyone around him and she didnt want to be there when it happened. YUP..thats what hes doing now.. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Since the S3 finale, Jane seems to be spiraling down a slippery moral slope. As he gets more reckless in his pursuit of RJ, I wonder who is going to be collateral damage for his machinations. Not anyone from the team, especially:(S4 seems to foreboding bringing in a lot of conflicts between Jane and Lisbon. Not a permanent rift that can't be mended, I hope... 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Well...now I'm gonna have to find that episode and re-watch exactly what she said..yup.Aaahh..i found it. It was in the deleted scenes ("lost evidence files") from the pilot epicode. After Jane got "irked" by that 'irksome" CSI. Lisbon and Jane got into a heated conversation in the van. It was a definite description of the Moby Dick saga... LISBON: "aaah...I get it. You're just trying to get me to ask you to stay." PJ: "why would you think that?" (turning to cho)" Why would she think that?" L: "because 'A', you got no where to go and 'B', you're an egomaniac. You think its impossible that I really and truly do not want to work with you. You think that deep down inside I got a grudging respect for your genius. The truth is....deep down...I'm scared of you. You got no boundaries, got no common sense. You're filled with all this ...stuff..that you refuse to acknowledge. One day you're gonna create one mother of a tragedy for yourself and eveybody around you. I don't wanna be there when it happens; so we'll drive you to the airport....it's fine.." so...what I guess will happen is that Jane will continue to get sucked into this vortex of Red John-ness and drag everybody down with him. Sadly, it'll be too late when he realizes what he's done. I think as each season plays out, we see this progression of the team's deeper entanglement into PJs obsession. This season definitely has a darker feel to it. All of the CBI team seems to be changing... anyway...just had to get that scene strait...for anybody's info.. :D 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I remember janescat...that's when Patrick stormed out of the SUV isn't it? And is it me or are the writer's increasingly trying to make us suspect Patrick? (It would be a good thing because then we'll know it's DEFINITELY not him!) LOL.But you're right about that slippery slope Amri.... and quite frankly I think Lisbon already knows, and suspects enough, that the whole "deniability" thing won't hold water if any of it comes to light. She's reading Jane like a book now. If you watch her face on everything he says and does, you can see it. She knows EXACTLY what he's doing! On a side note...I have to admit I laughed out loud every time I see the boat explode and Cho and Lisbon running toward the boat while Patrick runs in the opposite direction....proving once again that he's still the smartest guy in the room! LOL You can't say it's cowardice because all you have to do is go back to the bomb strapped to Lisbon. He told her he wouldn't leave her no matter what, and he didn't! Complex man that Patrick Jane! Ya gotta love him! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"(It would be a good thing because then we'll know it's DEFINITELY not him!) LOL.Haha, so true. I'm still bent on this theory of him being Red John, though. That would be kind of awesome, actually. I agree completely that Lisbon is reading him like a book now. But there really is nothing she can do now. She's protecting Jane now by hiding the truth with him. She's in waaay too deep. She's going to be the first one dragged down with him. But I think at this point, she knows that. Like she said in season two, she knew that one day Jane would be the end of her career and that's just the way it is. Now I'm sure she realizes no matter how far Jane slips down that morality slope as Amri says, she will be right behind him. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think the comments made here are really interesting and thoughtful. So---from the sublime to the mundane. Did I miss a meeting? Jane likes Darcy? And if so, why do they always cast someone who looks like the HMS Pinafore?. Kristina Frye had the same stately, imposing thing going on. Do you find this valuable? |

It was one of those "aside" things you think like "hmmm...he really seems attracted to her...but...she's not that attractive!" Maybe he just likes her as a 'kindred' spirit. Not quite sure what to make of it, but then again...maybe he's just not as 'shallow' as I am...LOL! Do you find this valuable? |

One of the most importat scenes is offscene. Thomas Maier's death. He was the father of Panzer's first victim - Molly.Lisbon and Jane hear that he committed suicide and that is supposedly when Jane gets to work planting Panzer's blood on his shirt and writing his suicide note in which Thomas claims that he revenged himself on Panzer for killing his daughter and then killed himself. This suicide is too convenient to be believable. Lisbon and Jane (in agreement) wanted Darcy / FBI off the Panzer case. Lisbon is the one who knows that Jane thinks Red John is alive and if this is true, he did get himself acquitted for killing Carter (in cold blood). The fact that Carter (conveniently) turns out to be a serial killer should not provide the O.K. factor. She mightn't know that Jane was not deceived and killed the RJ decoy, but she knows enough to know that Jane has capability and motive to get Darcy off the Panzer case. Darcy is smart enough to know that the suspect she's looking for is someone who avenged the insult to Red John by Panzer. Jane wants her to think it was a vengeance killing. But then, who else but Jane thinks that Panzer was the San Joachin killer? Jane is running mind games on just about everyone. And Lisbon should be putting this together. The deal breaker should have been that video from source UNKNOWN uploaded to the Major Crime Server - a video file transferred from outside the CBI with the 'she's cute. this is going to be fun' text file. This shouldn't be possible. But then it shouldn't have been possible to breach the CBI firewall and change the surveillance videos in the Boscoe killing. Only someone who knows all about puzzles, codes, games of logic etc could do this kind of thing. Lisbon should be thinking of Jane. She should be thinking about Thomas Maier's 'suicide'.
