Advertised as being one of the most intense episodes of the season, Blinking Red Light involves the CBI team trying to find a serial killer while Jane encounters a blogger who has devoted his life to finding the killer.

Sounds like a HUGE episode! Chat away!

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT... when they were on the talk show, I knew what Patrick Jane was doing...

When he said... Maybe yours are...

Patrick made a Dexter Move there. He is playing God!

He has got to be careful.

This episode was beyond epic!!!! For the 1st time, I never even did expect it but Jane used his worst enemy to take care of a case and at the same time he revealed that RJ was not dead yet. Man!!! The last resort methods Jane uses sometimes scares me!!! 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

WOH!!
That's what I'm talkin 'bout!

Two scum sucking serial killers lured out in the blinking of a red light.
Cold. Creepy. The way Jane mentalised and outsmarted them both, was genius.

Great writing Mr. Woodruff. Intelligent. You've restored my faith.

I have no intention of making righteous noises about the death of Panzer. He was hoist on his own petard. Mah.
J's reaction to both the smiley face and the murdered Panzer, was colder than ice. And that grin. AGH. (What an actor. You are my hero Simon Baker. I belove you.)

The upshot:
The cat's outta the bag. RJ is alive. Everyone knows, or will know soon enough.

In the words of Minelli, the carpstorm that hits the fan could be so big it'll blot out the sun. I wonder how all parties concerned - the team, CBI, FBI and female Agent thereof, Wainwright, the general public who supported J through his trial - will react to this little revelation.

And what will J's status be after this? Will his credibility be shot to parts below? Will the team be willing to go on his insane chases again, put their lives and careers in jeopardy again, so J can exact revenge again?
Maybe the camel's back has been broken and they'll finally refuse. Who could blame them.

This ep was mind blowing. It creates so many possibilities. Controversial, and some won't approve, but for me it's what TM is all about - pushing past boundaries and seeing what happens.

So enjoyed SB's directing.

Smart, talented and handsome. The triple threat. Sigh.

Now I'm starting to wonder, what will happen to Jane. Since rj is still alive that means he kill a inisent person. I don't think they will let him off for that.

"Double Jeopardy"... They can't try him on the same crime twice.

Yeah...THIS one was worth talking about! It made me realize how tame the first season 4 episodes have been. I realized early on that the blogger was the killer...but I couldn't figure out that LOOK on Patrick's face! But when he got the killer blogger to start bad mouthing RJ on TV....I KNEW what he was up to.

Stellar!

Really liked this episode. Once Panzer said what he said about RJ there was no stopping what was going to happen. When Jane stared at the camera it appeared he was staring beyond the camera as well at someone in the room. Also I don't think that Ms Cross's camera crew ever put on TV their interview with Panzer in the warehouse so the only people that would have known about that location would have been the the camera crew, Cross, Jane, and Lisbon. Yet that appears to be where Panzer's body was found later.
Interesting that the word "Panzer" means tank in German. There were a few German tanks under this brand "Panther", "Tiger" and "King Tiger".

Hiya dalia!
The first eps Have seemed tame. There's been a real restraint in them. As though they were all building up to something. (Although ep 406 was a bit of frothnbubble, if cutesy.)

This season for me, has been a triumph of great, subtle writing and holding the reins tightly yet elegantly, until this last ep. Then the explosion.

My only concern is that J will turn out to be RJ. I swear to any passing deity, if that's the case and Mr Heller et al have betrayed us - don't do it, you'll feel dirty in the morning - my devastation will span continents.
I know serial killers can be the 'guy next door', but Patrick Jane - no no no. Do not let us down on this one writers, after we've invested so much trust in you.

Hiya OtherWriter,
Interesting about the names.
Being the obsessive I am about this show, there seem to have been many eps where names have been deliberate. An obvious example is Patrick, which has trick in it.
One that springs to mind is ep 313, where the perp was Chief Nail (don't know if that spelling's correct and can't be fussed looking it up); and the victims were the Crosswhite family. Nail and cross. A fit of sorts.

Okay, this is uber-obsessive. Time for a cuppa.

Hiya back Hypno! LOL. I don't think you have to worry about that. Bruno says himself in one of the special features of the season 3 DVDs that he feels that would be cheating the audience.

This was an excellent episode.
It was very suspenseful and atmospheric. I loved the look on Jane's face when he turned on Panzer's IPOD and then again when he opened Panzer's medicine chest. Whenever he was in Panzer's apartment I thought there was a chance that Panzer would try to kill Jane and I was on the edge of my seat. It was also very creepy and suspenseful when Lisbon and VP had to go into the main suspect's house to look for evidence. Scary stuff. Makes you really appreciate the job law enforcement professionals do for us.

All I can say is what an awesome episode. Not only Jane got rid of a serial killer but also proved without any doubt that RJ is still alive. However I think the ending was a little rushed as I kind of wished more surprise, edge and reaction in the ending from the supporting cast, not only for RJ proving being alive but also for what Jane obviously pulled. I also wished that they had shown the encounter of Panzer with RJ, but it does not matter that much the episode was still awesome. The battle of wits, the measures taken by Jane that manipulated RJ to take action it was absolutely great. I do have to wonder a couple of thisngs. Did Jane do such because he wanted to rid the world of another serial killer or because his ego, not wanting to loose against Panze?and did he used RJ as his last resort weapon to get rid of the killer, or used the killer to bring RJ out? All in all one of my favorite episodes not only of the season but of the series. Up there with "His Red Right Hand". 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Unless he finds it would indeed be a good ending or if that is his way to throw away the audience. I am still not taking Jane from my list of suspects. However as I said before, and after reading some of William Blake's works, I am inclining myself to believe RJ is some one else, someone who believes is doing a great work, good, not evil, and that is in some way, be physically or emotionally, marred.

"I have one question here, as we all know jane knew what he was doing in making Panzer intimidate red john so he would kill him but why didn't jane have Panzer watched or something and use it as a chance to lead red john into a trap?

@ angrylittleprincess.... What rock have you been hiding under, we've known RJ isn't dead for ages.

@ HighlanderC...I think most people might have guessed what jane was going to do and the same point he himself realized it.....When he was staring at the Blinking Red Light and was deciding If it was worth revealing to the world that RJ was still alive and possibly also letting RJ himself know that jane knew he hadn't killed him.

Thats just my opinion though......"
If he had done that Panzer would have gone on killing with no way of stopping him, not counting that RJ with all the contacts in the police force he seems to have might have known about it and decide to not kill the guy. Jane could not risk that, which implies he did used RJ as a last resort weapon against Panzer, although that does not mean he did not used Panzer to bring RJ out. Also, Jane does not want to trap RJ, he wants to kill him as we had already seen.

He can argue he did not know t guy that he killed was not RJ, and he never said he killed RJ, he implied but never said it. Besides he was exonerated of murder regardless if it was RJ or not. Also I would not call Timothy Carter an innocent person.

Well, Panzer was there before jane got there and the interview had started. And since before doing these kind of stuff there are advertisements over the topic you can;t rule out that RJ saw it on TV. Also in the police reports which were passed to the FBI the information had to be written, and we already know how far RJ's reach is.

my reaction is: Interesting but it took a long time to get to the red smiley face. Too much filler in my opinion. I had David Paymer pegged as the killer as soon as appeared in the episode. But an excellent directing job by Mr. Baker! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Well, if you wanna know the truth I have wondered if PJ will turn out to be RJ at the last episode myself. And I have thought this since September 23, 2008
