"I know that Patrick poses as an atheist but I have a hunch that he is religious. If u can verify or deny this please post :)."People sometimes lose faith when a terrible tragedy happens in their lives. I think that the terrible way his wife and child died perhaps made him lose his faith (assuming he had any to begin with). But now that he has shot and perhaps killed Red John, and may be sitting in a jail cell for some time in Season 4, he will have time to ponder the deep questions of our lives - why are we here, is there a God or universal consciousness, is there a reason or plan for everything that happens, etc. I am hoping that in Season 4 PJ will explore some of the deeper issues of life. "I agree with you Pineywoods. I, too, hope that in Season 4 we will learn more of what Jane believes. I think the story is going in this direction more and more. With Visualize and Red John being so deep into the truth and light/darkness, should Jane learn more about either of those, he will have to reconcile what he believes. Do you find this valuable? |

Very good and interesting opinions everyone :) Here's mine :DI think Jane is infact athiest. He doesnt seem the type to devote himself to something that is not fact. After all, being a mentalist such as himself depends on facts purely. My view of his religion may be clouded though, as i do not follow any religion, but i agree with everything he says, and I think he is a man who would not believe anything that he didn't know as fact. I think of his strive for revenge as his religion and faith, as the worshippers of Red John call his work a religion. I think Jane will not become religious, but that he will become less firey and snappy and insensitive about other religions. Do you find this valuable? |

Jane had a career as a psychic before his wife and child were murdered. (And to be blunt, he was an arrogant prat, in that life, by the looks of it.) Generally, mainstream churches don't agree with the psychic world and believe it to be of the devil. Such things as seances, tarot card readings etc are to be shunned. So I don't see Jane being both a psychic and a Christian (or religious person.) I have to agree with pineywoods' bracketed thought - Jane never had any faith from the start. It's interesting though, that van Pelt dabbles in both worlds. She said to Jane, 'the kingdom of God is a real place and you have an immortal soul.' At the same time, she believes in ghosts, psychics and supernatural phenomena, eg. her cousin Wanda put her in touch with a dear departed. Most Christian churches would not be happy with this at all. Maybe the writers don't know that the church on the whole, is opposed to the psychic world, rather than part of it. At the risk of being cast somewhere dark, I quite like the notion of J being an atheist. I think it suits who he is and what he does. If he were a Christian or religious person, he would've forgiven RJ and left retribution up to the ultimate judge. Do you find this valuable? |

Jane admits he`s not christian ..... But he is surrounded by people who believe in God like Lisbon and Grace. Like someone mentioned he might have lost his faith after his family was murdered , yet I dont think he had any faith even before. Coming from a carney world....conning people....dosent fit . Yet Jane acts as a good person, kind and is pretty much a moral person ( excepting revenge desire) . He helps people, encourages them , values true love and family . Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah I agree, i think he's athiest.I think Graces beliefs match her personality - gullible. Grace believes all things and is a very open and kind hearted person. I think the writers know the christian beliefs and are using that to show that Grace only ever accepts things, never declines. For instance, she falls for evil men all the time xD Because she is so gullible :) Do you find this valuable? |

"Yes, unfortunately Grace is really gullible ......I hope after this finale she will change .... "I think the rigspelt next season will be very interesting... Grace will be afraid of any relationships because of what has happened to her in the past, (dan, craig etc.) and rigsby will try not to make a move but after an episode or two he wont be able to restrain himself and he will tell her something asking her o be with him aagain and she'll slap him and say he's insensitive xD Do you find this valuable? |
