Robin's Look
Apr 29 2009, 12:32 PM EDT
Robin HAS BEEN a very attractive woman in other venues. WHO is dressing her for this show..??? She always looks as if she just 'rolled out of bed' and grabbed some clothes off the floor.. The others look great..!! Surely as 'the boss' she gets 'paid more' and could afford a better wardrobe, makeup and a salon..!!! Jeans are to tight..Shows "saddle bags" when she walks, shoes..UGH...jackets, tops... What are ya'll thinking..????...CHANGE HER APPEARANCE..!!!!!! The other young lady looks AWESOME..Skirts, heels, nice pants, nice tops, nice jackets...Why the difference..??? It's annoying, esp after seeing Robin for years as an attractive well groomed actress...!!!!!!! 5 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

But it does set a 'tone' for her character that is very appropriate considering her position as the boss of a crime unit. It also afords a lot of leeway for drastica nd dramatic changes in her appearance for upcoming episodes.I saw something similar in the 'dressing' of Mary in the series "In Plain Sight". She is dressed down, little makeup, little fuss for her hair. I was not familiar with the actress at all, but I loved the show. Then I saw her on a talk show, make-up, wardrobe, hair all top shelf. I couldn't believe how drop dead gorgeous she was. I think the same kind of transformation for our Robin would be a real show stopper for a Mentalist episode. Do you find this valuable? |

It's just as well she doesn't wear skirts and heels, as we've already seen her bring down at least 2 suspects with flying full-body tackles - can you imagine trying that in a skirt? I like that she doesn't wear jewellery (other than her necklace with the cross) or dressy clothes - Lisbon is probably just not the kind of person who is much interested in that kind of thing. And she's very beautiful and looks good anyway, so why should she bother with all the extra effort? Someone in her position would be more interested in being taken seriously as a cop (which is something that a petite little lady like herself probably finds a bit of a challenge and is constantly having to fight for) than needing men to find her attractive (not much of a challenge), so prefers to wear clothes in which she feels comfortable doing the very physical things that her job often requires.

I just found a copy of the orginal Network Draft Pilot script written by Bruno Heller on 20 Feb 2008 (http://leethomson.myzen.co.uk/Mentalist,_The_-_1x01_-_Pilot.pdf) - worth a read. The only 2 cast member's whose appearance he describes are Jane's and Lisbon's, as follows: Jane - "Late thirties, early forties; a Savile Row suit, flip flops, battered good looks and a romantic, unruly, theatrical air. Shambolic and graceful simultaneously." Lisbon - "Mid-to-late thirties. Lisbon keeps her hair short, wears no make-up, no jewelry but a gold cross on a chain, and Ross really did dress her for less, but she's still gorgeous, and compensates for this professional handicap with a workplace persona based mainly on NFL coach Bill Parcells." From the horse's mouth, so to speak! And I assume this was written long before the parts were cast. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think she would add a lot more to her role if she wore a different kind of slacks, occasional skirt, something... She also might start to walk rather than "clunk" about the scenes. She would never make it as an eventual love interest for Patrick this way. She's very pretty, so why the need to masculinize her? 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

That she doesn't look like the other ladies on the show just makes her intresting. I really can't imagine her in a dress while hunting down victims. I also love how she walks....she's really cool and tough. Plus Robin looks amazing no matter what she wears. But I think in season two she wears a lot more make up. I really like her new hair although I thope we will see her with curly hair again. Thats just so fittting for her. Do you find this valuable? |

Anyone seen Bones? As the seasons go by Brennan gets more feminine, maybe the same will happen for Lisbon. She started off with no make up and straight hair, then curly hair, the straight hair with new hairstyle and make up. Maybe we just need to wait and see. They may incorperate more Robin into Lisbon and show off that really pretty actress but maybe she just needs to grow. Remember she grew up with 3 brothers and her mother died when she was 12. I'd say looking after them would be more important than fashion.

I love Bones and maybe yes they 're going to put Lisbon more femenine sometime maybe next season. I loved her curly hair!! but with this cut she looks great besides she couldn't be catching the bad guys with skirts or heels that would be very funny to see, I personally like her style it's great I mean she looks beautiful it's not a fashion contest!! she looks different that's what makes her unique from all the women on the office.

Ugh, she's fine the way she is. She doesn't NEED to be feminine or get a better wardrobe. Now have a cup of stfu.

Van Pelt has better wardrobe? seriously? have you seen the pants she wears? Lisbon/Robin's look is great and very fitting for her character. also I don't think she get paid THAT good. it's mentioned in the script for the pilot somewhere, anyway she dresses real and not like most of the crime show female leads who wear different clothes every episode/scene (most recent example is Beckett from Castle, she even owned high fashion clothes after her apartement got blowed up...LOL)

I think they ùade Robin, or I'd say Teresa more beautiful and attractive in this season than in the first season, and actually she is wearing make up ! I mean her eyes are darker than before...And I'm pretty sure she's going to become more feminine in the next season... Do you find this valuable? |

Oh, Gawd. She looks fine the way she is. Why does she have to me more feminine?? ((Cannot even spell word correctly.)) If she comes in the office with heavy make up, I am doing so many illegal things to the writers!!! >:|

Robin looked great in Prison Break and I think she looks great in Mentalist as well. I like her hair in season 2 but I loved the jacket she wore in S1. Should go for that next time around.

Frankly, Robin ruins the whole show for me,. (The Mentalist is my favorite show on TV. Why? Two words: Simon Baker. Back to Robin. She makes me want to stick my finger in my mouth and gag. She has no personality, she's a poor actress, she doesn't justify her character at all, she has an ugly stride when she walks; no poise or good looks, and she basically ruins the show. Try Poppy Montgomery in her place. She would live up to the part in every way. Casting, let us enjoy this great program completely and replace Tunney ASAP.
