Think about it; Patrick's dad had a funny voice when he was shown in flashbacks several times across two episodes- as does Red John. Red John clearly wants revenge on Patrick for SOMETHING, it could be because Patrick left him alone when he left the travellers. Not to mention; Patrick had prior knowledge of the Tyger Tyger burning bright - a poem a carnie might know, like his father - and in depth biblical knowledge. Plus, Brett Stiles, who is clearly well-associated with Red John, passes on the image of being close to Patrick - almost like he knows him (perhaps a friend of his father). Then of course - how much more of a 'carnie-ish' name can you get than Laurelie from the season 4 finale!?

In the episode "Red John's Friends," the Director of the CBI coincidentally leaves "to visit (his) sister in Hawaii" just prior to Red John's murder of the ex-con who at least indirectly knew him. We also found out that Red John has access to the CBI Computer network and can manipulate his way through communications with Patrick and the others. My fiance and I were subsequently thinking that Red John might be the CBI Director. What will need eventually to be explained is who exactly was having "(his) feelings trifled with," the specific context involved and who Patrick himself might think Red John might be. Surely after five years--now six--of agonizing guilt, he remembers in great detail the specifics of the person he was conning and how that person might connect to Red John. Will no doubt be a great television ride...

"I can’t possibly see how it could be Jane or anyone on the CBI team after the last episode. After the fake killings Jane, Lisbon and Rigsby would have been together every moment (with Cho and VanPelt following very closely) up until Jane left on the Bicycle. The fact that RJ didn’t find out until the FBI found out clearly indicates that it’s not anyone on the team. Also since they were together after the fake shooting it pretty much clears out any alternate personality angle. Besides RedJohn really has to be someone who is well connected and powerful and none of them qualify." You might be thinking too narrow here. For all we know, Red John ist just a mastermind who gives orders to his disciples. Every member of the team including Jane could have given precise instructions beforehand, without causing any suspicion. Also, Red John might be lying about the point at which he realised what was going on. I think we shouldn't rule out characters just because they could not be physically present when the murders occurred. I don't think that such a strict approach would do any justice to the complexity of the matter and the fact that Red John himself appears to be a brilliant mind.

Although highly unlikely, it is possible the Patrick Jane is hunting himself (Red John) with Red John as his alter ego.
I mean, John and Jane has the same personalities when it comes to mentalism.
But they are opposite in reality.
Take the two last names. JANE and JOHN. Male and Female opposites and in the police lingo always used to describe unknown victims. JANE DOE/JOHN DOE. William Blake Poem used Talks of Symmetry.
Jane is the soft side - the Female version
John is the hard side - the Male version
This could explain why Jane can never catch Red John
Also, in the final episode of season 2, Red John recites a William Blake Poem about a Tiger,
Jane orders The Lamb at the beginning. The Lamb is another poem by William Blake.
Lamb and Tiger are opposites.
Jane - Lamb - HARMLESS
John - Tiger - DANGEROUS
And both are taken from the collection: Songs of Innocence and experience. Again two opposites.
Jane - Innocent
John - Experienced.

@JanelsGod: First of all, the writers have in my opinion already written themselves into a corner concerning RJ. They made him too "powerful", and they have written too many non connected loose threads for him. This guy can manipulate anyone into dying for him for no apparent reason, he can assassinate anyone under the nose of the government, hack government databases, he has contacts everywhere. So at this point 80% of fans at least will be dissapointed when he is revealed. (Thats why I thought the season 3 ending would have been a beautiful ending to the show, because we should not get the mystery of RJ be explained, it will just be dissapointing). I would actually prefer Jane being RJ over anyone else we know in the series by now, at least it would make more sense (No logical explanation for RJ really works anyways). One thought I had was that maybe Jane killed the original RJ shortly after his family was killed, but since he still couldnt cope with the loss he created an alter ego he could continue to chase, at least then his real self would still have revenge. And by the way just mentioning Fight Club for you should make you understand how Jane being RJ could be pulled off beautifully.... Anyways, Jane isnt really an optimal solution either, no character in the show is, and thats why I was so dissapointed when they copped out and didnt end the show at the season 3 finale.

Yeah I'd like see see things get a little more heated between them. I think though they are taking it slow to keep the show going. I dont want to be to hasty but its part of what keeps you wanting more which keeps the show getting more seasons! Still they could like show lisbon going over to Janes in the 2nd to last episode where she says she stop by after he gets fired. It would have been a perfect moment to start a little something. And you know if red john came after lisbon right away there wouldnt be alot of point in continuing the show I think. I guess thats the ultimate finale for me!

I know cause in Season 3 episode 17 he says a quote from a poem by William Blake. The quote "tiger tiger burning bright..." red john says to Jane is by a poem written by William Blake also. Its called The tiger.

I saw some theories that some people think it might Be Janes Father. I had an interesting idea hat its possible jane and Red John could be brothers or half brothers. Where is Janes parents anyways? Does anyone know where his father is? Did I miss a clue on the subject?Sometimes I thought at one point Bret stiles might be Red Johns Father.

Ready for shock?
I might be the first person to guess this... But I'm quite certain...
Grace Van Pelt.
The entire series is based on the bad guy being somebody we've known from the beginning, and often is who we expect last. The most innocent seeming person.
Here are some of my reasons.
Lamest reason, she has red hair.
Better reasons -
She's the newest member of the CBI. (And Red John has already proven s/he can get into the CBI)
Jane suspects she is hiding a 'deep emotional trauma'. Something she won't even admit to herself. Serial killers often have some kind of trauma, a messed up childhood or abusive ect, (at least in these cop shows I can't vouch for real life) and most often they create a world around them where the trauma did not exist. :D
She is dating a killer at one point. I don't think that was accidental.
She has Rigsby. If I were Red John, in the CBI, I'd want at least one gun who I knew could not shoot me no matter what. She's been purposely stringing along Rigsby too, blowing hot and cold in amazing ways. Unreasonable even for PMS.
She is always challenging what Jane believes.
She's the last person I'd expect, which makes her the most likely by the show's standards.
Red John needs an in at the CBI so it makes sense.
Red John WANTS to be close to Jane.
Grace is always noticing things and holding back. Jane often calls her out to announce these things. It's like she's trying to hide how smart she is.
Grace hesitates when Lisbon announces they are off the Red John Case.
She also says that as a CBI agent they are quote 'fighting evil and injustice' something cop shows are famous for having serial killers disillusioned as.
Grace also seems to try too hard to seem ignorant
Just some thoughts I could be wrong of course, I think it's a solid theory though

I Agree Jane HATES this guy. I think its Brett partridge from the pilot episode 1 and season 2 episode 23. The guy who cleans up after the crime scenes. watch closely how him and Jane interact with eachother

The guys name who I think is Red John is Brett Partridge in the show. He Cleans up after the crime scenes. He plays in The Pilot Episode S1 E1 and also in S2 E23 Red Sky In The Morning. His Name is Jack Plotnick in real Life. If You watch very carefully at how Jane and Brett interact with eachother it is quite interesting. Its different then with other characters. They both seem to have a very deep disdain for one another which is strange considering they supposedly barely know one another or do they Know eachother and Jane just hasnt caught on yet. Unless its the opposite and brett is working for Jane not just in the CBI but as Janes disciple if Jane ends up being red John. Through all the episodes both scenarios would work as they both would have all the connections they need with the job positions they are in. And since bretts job is so under the radar but so connected to every crime scene it would explain why Red John knows so much. Think about it.

So, I just watched the finale on DVR. I think there is a major Red John clue within. Shortly after Red John called Patrick "debonair," there is a street sign clearly shown in the foreground in the scene of the FBI/CBI racing to save Patrick. One of the street names on the sign is labeled "Debonair"! Coincidence? No way -- especially since there was no need for the sign to be shown otherwise. The cross street is "Ranier," which I would think represents Red John somehow since it is the cross street to "Debonair." That's the Red John clue, somehow. Anyone have any thoughts here?

"When Lorelie tells Jane that Red John found out when the FBI found out, does that mean that the FBI lady is working for Red John? " no, it just means he knows someone from the FBI.. probably someone high in the ladder since he knew so fast.. it could be her, but nothing is certain

He is not Minelli, at least i don't think so. Whilst it is plausable and no hints have really been made at it so if it happened the 12+ million viewers would be like "OMG" as we know him well but would never suspect him but i just can't see it. maybe during the beginning of season 2 i could, especially when he left just as Bosco and his team were killed in season 2 episode 8 i think, may look a bit suspicious but look at the season 3 episode 'Jolly Red Elf', Jane goes to Minelli for help in he RJ case and Minelli pulls some strings, and he actually looked disgusted with himself when Jane called him a "drunken fish killer". I don't think it is him. BUT! if it was, would be quite the reveal and the faces on Lisbon and the rest of the team would give me goosebumps.

Loralei did not really comit a crime. Certainly, not as severe as what Patrick did in the beginning of the episode. He was immediately granted bail. So, the CBI with even less on Loralei will be forced to release her and then she will be gone in the wind. What are your thoughts?

Lorelei is obviously a very weak and damaged individual if she could be recruited by Red John. Patrick will probably try to make Lorelei believe he cares about her in order to get information from her. I think that was what the kiss on the top of the head was about.

I really think its time to put an end to RJ once and for all as he is becoming to complicated and is beginning to belittle Patric Janes abillities.
They need to move on from RJ and could have done so by allowing him to actually be dead at the end of S3.Unrattle him by mocking him again on live television forcing him to take out his rage and capture him in the process.
Sherlock holmes would have had this done and dusted seasons ago a fitting paralel between him Moriaty , Jane and RJ.But no matter how cleaver Moriaty is he wil never have the upper hand over Holmes.
Come on RJ needs to come out of the shadows and have an actual intellectual battle of the wits with Jane over a few episodes ending with either his actual demise or capture.
The show can than continue with either more battles with his shadowed network or newer , bolder criminal minds. Putting Jane in the category of Elite as he has already defeated one of the best RJ.
I love Patric Jane but at this moment he fails in comparison to Sherlock Holmes.
So what do ya think time to actually bring RJ to Justice , Patrick Jane Style? Yeah or Nah?
