This is the fictional series finale in which Patrick Jane confronts his arch enemy Red John, whose identity we find out in this episode. The mystery will of course need revisions; this is not final.
Scene 1
Open on the RED JOHN smiley face, hovering above an empty mattress. A flashback to PATRICK JANE reading the letter posted on his door and then opening the door. Inside the room are a vase with flowers, a desk. They all slowly fade back to the Red John smiley face above the mattress, this time, Patrick is lying down, staring up at the dried up smiley face, fully clothed and with leather shoes on. Jane slowly stands and walks next to the face, it is eye level. Assuming he has done this thousands of times before, we see Jane's fingers slowly reach out to touch the crusty blood, and just as he is about to make contact with the wall, his hand quickly recedes into his pocket. He sits back down and goes to sleep, his arm covering his face, but we can barely make out the tears.
Scene 2: Murder Scene
The team (GRACE VAN PELT, TERESA LISBON, KIMBALL CHO, and WAYNE RIGSBY, including Jane) walks towards an open field, in front of them a body is suspended in midair by some rope.
Van Pelt: Victim is a Jane Doe, the driver's license we found on her is a fake. Mid 40's. Forensics says she was shot around 3:00 AM last night.
Lisbon: That's pretty grisly. But why did the killer hang her up over here, in plain view. He's either a serial killer or a sick kind of showman.
Jane takes a closer step up to the body, a large sheet covers it. The sheet falls, it is stained in blood revealing the face. Jane turns away and starts walking then runs.
Lisbon: Jane! Hey! Cho, Rigsby, go. Me and Van Pelt will take the body.
Cho and Rigsby start to run after Jane, who has started his car and is about to drive off. Lisbon and Van Pelt take another look at the face.
Van Pelt: Hey, does that look familiar?
Lisbon: Yeah. Get her prints and blood samples, we'll run 'em back at the HQ.
They look at the sheet. Lisbon picks it up and out falls a stuffed elephant.
Lisbon: Oh crap. You get this Van Pelt?
Van Pelt: Yeah.
Scene 3: Road/House
Jane's car, closely followed by a large black van, goes up a highway and stops at an old quaint looking house. Jane runs up to the house and knocks on the door furiously. When no one answers he kicks at it, then pulls out his paper clip and begins work on the lock, with no success. Rigsby and Cho run up next to him.
Jane: Shoot it out. Get the door open.
Cho: What's going on, Jane? Is this Rosalind Harker's house?
Jane nods.
Jane: Just shoot the door down.
Rigsby complies and soon they are tearing through the house. They run up to the bedroom where a frowny face is painted in blood on the wall.
Rigsby: Oh man.

Scene 4: CBI Headquarters
Jane is pacing around while Van Pelt and Rigsby work the computers furiously. Lisbon and Cho enter with a file. Jane stops and jogs up to Lisbon. Van Pelt and Rigsby glance up and then go back.
Jane: What is that?
Lisbon holds up an evidence bag with a letter inside.
Lisbon: We found this on the bed.
She takes the letter out after she puts on her gloves and reads it. The camera pans in as she reads it.
Lisbon: This woman was an abomination. She associated herself with the most sick, disgusting soul in the universe, Red John. And she paid for it. I have lost everything to this monster and this ugly woman thinks that he is kind and loving? She deserved to die and she did. I did not mean to be a killer, but when this filth comes up, it must be destroyed. D.H.
Jane: Derek Holden, the husband to the seventh victim, Anabel Holden. He was a cop when his wife was killed and retired shortly after. He must have hacked into the CBI records to find Rosalind Harker's name. He probably went to have a conversation with her to find out about Roy Tagliafero. She told him she loved him, he was kind, Derek snapped and killed her.
Rigsby, looking up: How did he hack into the records, those firewalls are airtight. The only person who ever got into those was...
Cho: ...Red John himself.
Van Pelt: But if Red John is the only person who can get into the records, and Holden despised him, how did he get in.
Lisbon: OK, Rigsby, Van Pelt, get a trace on all the users who have been on and off the records. See if Dr. Joe, NJ has been on at all. That was the alias Red John used last time, right?
Rigsby: Copy that.
Rigsby and Van Pelt get back on the computers.
Jane: The real question is that if Red John is, say, the only person who can get into the records, and leave no trace, then how did Holden, a man who obviously despised Red John, do the same thing?
Lisbon: You're saying that this is a hoax, that it was Red John that killed Rosalind?
Jane: No, of course not. If Red John wanted to get rid of Rosalind, he would have done it a long time ago. They definitely have some sort of a connection.
Lisbon: So...
Jane: So, the real question is how did Holden find out about Rosalind. Certainly, not through the records.
Van Pelt: He's right. There've been no traces of Holden or Dr. Joe in the past two months.
Lisbon: So Holden didn't use the records. How did he find Rosalind?
Jane: I don't know. Let's find out!
Jane leaves, as though in a trance. Lisbon and Cho share a look and then follow.
Scene 5: Rosalind Harker's House
Jane, Lisbon, and Cho arrive at Rosalind Harker's house and enter. They are careful as they walk up to her bedroom, again to see the two blood-painted faces.
