well i just thought - maybe it was staged???
I mean, Jane asked how to spell kristina's name. Maybe he was writing a not to her or about her?? Jane also got very VERY angray and yelling at kristina and she didn't really react so maybe they planned something?? probably not, but maybe.

i agree with what you've said, in parts. i also believe rosalind is RJ, for several reasons. first rosalind, roses, roses are red. john? male counterpart of jane. patrick jane. as a way of reminding herself of what he did to her. her hair is also red.
when rosalind is talking about 'roy' , the man she loved; the way patrick stops and stares i think shows us he is reminded of something. perhaps a long time ago patrick rejected her, and she is telling her story in the way that it triggers some of his memories, but washes over them because she is talking about 'roy'. she enjoyed playing piano for him, the way his wife and child did (as it was shown in an earlier episode).
the teacup is another clue. and the way the smiley face is drawn on the wall, perhaps for practice? it is not the usual smiley face, but perhaps is the first face RJ/rosalind ever drew.

Oh, how I was shocked... It was like they didn't even plan out a game... Did you see the episode where Jane is playing mental chess with the puzzle maker? If anyone else followed it (either in their head, on paper, or on a board) you'd notice that Patrick makes an illegal move, without even a scene change, then it's all down hill from there. Did anyone else notice that? xD

In the episode guide on here for the second series it has a 24th square ready for a synopsis of episode 24 but I thought there was going to be just 23 episodes, making the series end on May 20th (in America) If there's 24 episodes the series will end on May 27th. Does anyone know how many episodes the 2nd series has, 23 or 24? I am curious LOL!

I definitely like that we're getting more background on Jane's family and what happened, but it's really sad... at some points it looks like he is crying... I was really hoping he'd get some info from Jared, but I kind of figured he would escape.
WHY on earth would they go to the fast food joint that was being protested? Aren't there like... 53489 in most cities in California??!

I agree, seeing a family member might show a new dimension to her character. who knows we may get to see one yet!
It was nice to have an episode that focused on Lisbon.Robin is a great actress, I agree with that too.

Just watched my recording of this episode and missed the last 10 minutes b/c of a recording glitch. Who dunnit and how did Jane figure it out? Last I saw was where Jane slipped something in the con woman's purse. Thanks for the help...

Well, I really loved this episode! It had a lot of great parts: drunk guy kissing Lisbon (not so great for her :P), Cho chasing the guy with a "fool brain" ;), Jane blackmailing Rigsby about his relationship with Grace, the guessing of musical instruments; La Macarena (I used to dance that when I was a child, I still remember the steps :P) and other music from the 90's; the scene with the pencil and, of course, the best of all, Lisbon and Jane dancing!!
That scene made my day and possibly my week! Although it just lasted a few seconds, it was great to watch it again and again and again, I've forgot how many times I've watch it!!! I feel like Jane wanted to dance with her (as a read somewhere someone said), and he totally took the opportunity when she said she loved the song ("obviously you want to dance"), which totally freaked out her at first. But as soon as they started to dance, but where really comfortable with each other, you can tell by the look in their faces.

I am the secretary/treasurer of Hangtown Firefighters Chapter of Wind and Fire, a motorcycle club - not gang...I have been watching The Mentalist for the past year - sometimes I enjoy the show, sometimes I find it a little cheesy. This particular episode offended me enough to create a login so I could air my frustration regarding the depiction of motorcycle clubs. While I'm sure there are motorcycle clubs that operate more like the 'gang' depicted in this episode, the vast majority of motorcycle riders who belong to clubs do it for more altruistic reasons such as fund raising for charity, or simply for the joy of riding. This episode simply fueled the fire for those few who do not know better. Episodes like this do little to raise awareness. Steriotyping does no one any good...

It was so funny!
And when Grace was asking what did Cho tell them they were like: "You don't wanna know!"
It was pretty good seeing Cho relax a little...
Plus,as Patrick said:" The kid's a natural."
But the saddest scene was when those two girls wanted him to join them and he said he's married...
It was really one of those "I wanna hug" him moments.
