RE: Chat about the Season 3 Premiere, Red Sky At Night, here!

In Red Sky at Night, Lisbon seriously crosses Jane / RJ's line. They have talked about "the ultimate sin" before in Red Brick and Ivy. In this episode, Jane told Lisbon that he trusts his former psychiatrist Sophie because she wouldn't lie to him.
Lisbon doesn't get it. Jane lies all the time - to everyone, so what's the big deal? If Sophie were lying to Jane, she teases him - that would be "the ultimate sin". Lisbon is being ironic. But Jane is serious - "yes it is" he tells her.
So in Red Sky in the Morning - Jane is going to be off the case that Bertram wants him on. Is he pre-occupied with Kristina's abduction by RJ or is he occupied with matters relating to that abduction? Difficult to say as Jane comes and goes at the CBI. And like Clark Kent at the Daily Planet the team is often left to wonder where he is or comments that he is late or not with them. So he has another life.
At any rate, Lisbon lies to Jane to get him on the case. And predictably, Jane tells her he will exact his revenge. That doesn't happen in Season 3.
We learn some fascinating things about Jane / RJ in this episode - no fact once committed ever escapes his memory. But there are a lot of facts he doesn't commit, like the fact that Bertram has taken the top job in the Division. He set that one free he tells Lisbon.
But the fact that she lied to him (the ultimate sin) and tricked him into taking the case has been committed. Therefore, he will exact revenge.
Again we see Jane casting his invisible net for the murderer with his "stupidass diamond story." Again we see Jane's compulsion to poke the bigwig. Lisbon understands he's not fully in control of this. But Jane sees Bertram and he gets his immediate urge to wind him up. Bertram amuses him and Jane sets him up to broadcast the "stupidass diamond story" to tvland.

At the end while getting in car at the cemetery, did anyone notice how Jane was looking across the a field. The camera panned away to where he was looking and a late 60's early 70"s white four door vehicle passes by, looks to be a Dodge. Anyway as the vehicle passes you see the driver look Janes way. You can actually see his face but it's distorted by the windshield. He looks to be bald. Remember this vehicles description, it had the old low beam, high beam headlamps separated and it was surrounded with well kept chrome. Has anyone seen this vehicle in a prior episode?

"I don't agree with your comment on the vehicle being far away. It was so close to the camera shot that it didn't fit in the shot. The vehicles across the cemetery field were far away. I know what the writers want you to believe, whether Red John was present. Why pan away to a vehicle driving so close to a camera for no reason. I guarantee 80% ofvthe people that watched the show never saw the white vehicle. Only time will tell.
" You've misread what I was saying. I didn't say the vehicle was far away, I was simply referring to that shot as 'the far away shot' in which the car passes the screen. You are right, the car passes very close to the screen and fills it. What I was saying is that Jane was NOT looking in that direction.

Latest Episode--Factual Error

When one changes a tire on a Citroen, one raises the car using the level control, props up the corner of the car using a simple jack stand, sucks up the wheels be lowering the level control thus raising the sick tire above the ground, mounts the replacement tire, raises the car again to the top, removes the jack stand, (tightens the lugs nuts of course) and drives away. The episode has Patrick raising the car with a scissors jack. This has to be a deliberate error, but why? Everyone knows that's how you change a tire on a DS21. Most people know that if it is a rear tire and you're pressed for time or don't have a spare, you can just remove the flat tire and drive without it.

"The episode has Patrick raising the car with a scissors jack. This has to be a deliberate error, but why? " I suspect that the vast majority of the original target audience (the USA) would not know how to raise the wheel on a DS. After all the model is now at least 35 years old, and only 38,000 sold in the USA in the first place. So the 3 possible reasons for the error. 1: It was a real error. Jane (the fictional character) would know how to change a tyre on his own car, but perhaps Simon Barker and the rest of the cast and crew did not, so they got it wrong. 2. The cast/crew knew how to actually change a tyre but thought that the audiance would not know. So to make it look "realistic" used a jack. 3. Patric Jane does not know how to change a tyre on his own car. This is not that unusual. Many car drivers do not even know how to fill the windshield washer system with water, let alone change a tyre.

One of the best clues to the RJ identity is Lisbon's "Sometimes the obvious guy did it. Usually the obvious guy did it."
They all know that RJ does not make mistakes, does not leave a trail, that he stages his murders as theatre, that strategically he is always ahead of them and he has sprung every trap they have set. They know that he is supremely logical and that all systems are permeable to his games. They know that the people who know RJ behave as if in trance. So would they recognize the Master of the Game even if he were to appear as an actor in whatever play he is running?
The CBI has enough evidence to put this together. Why not look at the CBI in terms of its Red John play value and entertain the idea that since RJ has agents involved with the RJ investigation - why wouldn't he be leading it himself?
Perhaps along these lines, Wainwright decides to observe his agents (Jane among them) and see what he can see. He matches observed behavioural traits against a psychopathy test. At best a poor tool. But the qualities of a psychopathic person are known.
The problem is that Wainwright is an academic. He relates to abstractions. He can be looking straight at someone who gets 100% on his test and still not join the dots, even when he confronts Jane with his score.
"Wow" says Jane very upbeat. "Well that certainly explains a lot." Not to Wainwright, however. "Now I know what I'm dealing with. I'll adjust my behaviour accordingly." "So you should."
To Wainwright it's ok that he has a psychopath leading the RJ investigation. So, of course, Jane will be able to work with the new boss.
Psychopathy is a huge limitation, even if you are the smartest person in the room. Lisbon could put this together. She is an investigator. Let her investigate.

The play is always the thing and the scene now shifts to the justice system and the court . Here presented contemptuously as the scarlet ribbons (aka red tape).
In this episode the main character playing his Patrick Jane identity will use the court to exercise his skills on the group mind. In the larger context the group mind (equally entranced by the play) will be hoping he succeeds - if the comment on the fanblogs is anything to go by.
This is the character who in a former episode (Red Brick and Ivy) exchanged the following dialogue with Lisbon re the psychiatrist Sophie Miller. Not difficult to see why she got out of clinical practice and into research. But I digress.
Lisbon: "You're very combative all of a sudden" Jane: "If she is guilty and she lied to me [ abused his trust ] And I believed her. She fooled me." Lisbon: "The ultimate sin" Jane: "Yes it is. [He isn't joking]
As the cards of the narrative fall, even the most entranced tv viewer would be aware that Jane lies all the time. So for the scene to shift from criminal investigations to the court is a logical extension of the drama.
The programme embedded in this drama goes way beyond the procedural programming that conditions the population to normalize the police state and its apparatus. There is at least 5 levels of programming in this drama and above the procedural level it is pure Kabbalism.
Oh. And for those who missed it. Back in the reality theatre of the American empire, every law in the empire was de facto struck down when the NDAA was signed off on New Year's day.
If the executive power of the Leviathan state has the power to arrest, detain any citizen with no reason or charge or legal counsel, hold them indefinitely, torture them and execute them - then there is no law, only executive agenda and power.

Kristina is one of the really interesting characters in The Mentalist. Her character brings a much needed feminine expression to the modern wasteland that is tv generally - she doesn't carry a gun, she isn't trying to outdo the guys, she doesn't swear, she wears a dress and does her hair, her humour has a soft edge, she laughs and flirts. If she did nothing else - that would make her worth watching.
Objectively and morally, channelling souls who now are dead to our world so they can finish the business of their life story is not good idea. Death is, by definition, the finish of their lifestory here. But this is an Illuminist drama and you can't have everything. Kristina does not get the two coins for the fisherman and in that she has a modern take on the life of the soul.
She is frequently attired in black and white - a 'you can't have dark without light' fashion statement if ever there was one. And in the order of nature, the changes that we perceive as opposites are different phases of larger cycles.
If existence does have moral order, however, this idea of 'no dark without light' does not carry over. The most cursory of reflections will discover that a person can be happily occupied with tasks and thoughts that are socially helpful, generous, silly, fun, creative, moral etc and never choose to lie or act in any capacity against the Top 10. Left to themselves free of any social engineering that would incline or compel them otherwise, they need not so choose. So how then are good and evil equal? Unless they have been subject to tv or school or a dystopia from an early age, no 4 year old would say "When I grow up I want to be a ho".
Evil is not necessary to the good. But if we are going to watch Illuminist dramas on tv (is there any other kind?), then we will be led to believe that it is.
Kristina is a character who could go either way.

I would like to suggest that an episode be set in Salinas around Cannery Row. Cannery Row is a real place and is a "shady" place that could be an interesting background for an episode. I'm a person who came from Salinas and it would be good to see an episode that uses Patrick Jane solving something on set on John Steinbeck's stomping ground. What do y'all think?

The motel room scene with Mars, Johnson and Jane is really important. At the time, Johnson tells Jane that his murder was part of the big picture that would blow his mind. Jane didn't believe him until it was revealed at the end that Johnson knew the tyger, tyger key - to the big picture behind these murders.
By Strawberries and Cream, Jane sketches his idea of the big picture to Bertram, so he has come round to the idea that these murders make sense those terms.
The guy who drove the citrus truck was intriguing. He was hitting on Johnson's girlfriend who would have to die because she was getting too close to Johnson's serial cop killings. He was the one who described her as riding into the moon (a balloon face) - her death. Eerily reminescent of the RJ logo. Citric acid will cut iron. Perhaps a Red John appearance?

RE: Chat about His Red Right Hand
By: Ytene,

The red right hand is an idea that would be worth pursuing in Season 4. By the end of Season 3, PJ has been tracking Red John through his organisation - his inside man/men in the CBI.
The Red Queen (3.16) episode follows on from the murder of Todd (one of RJ's men). The RJ insiders burn one of RJ's tygers in CBI interrogation. This was an inside job, so they have to frame someone. PJ anticipates that it will be Hightower whose innocence he comes to believe.
If this were a game of chess (which it is basically), PJ 's strategy is to stage Hightower's escape in a way that will appear to confirm RJ's CBI insiders in their sucess. Using Hightower as a Red Queen, he will get RJ to sacrifice his bishop/s in order to save her as the framee. Their oblique moves within the CBI have long obstructed justice in the Red John case.
So this was a Knight's move on a bishop.
And the plan works. Bertram, confident that Hightower will be good for Todd's murder, kicks back with LaRouche (who should be suspected as an RJ insider). He obviously regards Lisbon as an innocent. The innocent in William Blake's Cradle Song.
Bertram: "There are worse things that could happen. We have an open an shut case. It's a blemish to be sure, but at least we can clase the book on this ugly chapter in the CBI. "When thy little heart doth wake. Then the dreadful night shall break."
LaRouche identifies these lines from William Blake - whose poetry RJ and his insiders use as code.
The Mentalist is an Illuminist story. The awakening of Illuminism is about how the world really works, about how covert power operates in, around and through all institutions. The story of The Mentalist takes us into that terra inconita. To what end? We'll see if the writers have the guts to go there. At this point - maybe yes. Maybe no.

RE: Chat about 408 Pink Tops here
By: SusanMaureenBrandt,

Here's a better explanation for what Pink Tops refers to.
People who are killed in a way that exposes pink brain matter.
Taylor Van Diest in Armstrong BC Canada was killed on Halloween, reportedly by an assault that caused major head injuries.
This episode contained an actress who looked just like Taylor, and who was killed by head injury after passing by an old brick building and while texting a friend frantically, just like Taylor.
The victim in this episode is named Yolanda, nicknamed Yoli. I write a blog on a website service called Yola. At the end of this episode, Lisbon says that in connection with her death, Yoli saved many lives. If I had been intimidated by Taylor's murder and stopped writing my Yola blog about crimes connected to The Mentalist, lives would have been saved? Because these idiots would have stopped killing people around where I live? Just stop it yourself!
I tried to stop the problem myself. I discredited myself publicly, and I stopped writing. Then they went out a few days later and committed a very traumatizing robbery, with the robber wearing black skeleton gloves to match the mask worn by the idiot who tried to rob a store near my house, a few hours after someone sent me an email from RED JOHN, warning I could be next.
This episode has the following names in it, Warren, Dwayne, Russell. That sounds like someone's telling me to Warn Dwayne Russell, which is my brother's name. I guess if I had followed their order, and then nothing happened to him, I'd look like a fool to my family too.
It's time for Mentalist fans to take an hour or two and looks at the evidence that this show is run by people willing to kill and terrorize to hide their stupid secret - the characters are based on the family of Julius Caesar, and they all worked as conmen in western Europe and invented Christianity.

Princess, this is my own little theory on the reason L is becoming all soft and acquiescent these days. She thinks J has killed RJ. In her mind, it's over. J can now get on with his life. She's hoping this life includes her and she's taking subtle steps to see it does. Simplistic I know...
This is not necessarily My perspective btw. I don't particularly have to see them together; and only at the end if it's going to be. I still see J with someone far more feminine and refeened. Sorry shippers, just another opine. And I definitely see and understand your pov.

I believe that Red John want Jane to believe that he's dead because now he's gonna start killing people in a different way, like he was another serial killer. Everyone in CBI will believe that in fact is a separate serial killer, but Jane will know that is Red John, but he'll only tell this to his team because if he tells everybody he won't have any reason for being out of prison.
